LANDIS NUTRITION & FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE
No longer feel like yourself?
It’s bedtime time and you can’t fall asleep because your mind is racing and you feel anxious about the next day. Then in the middle of the night you toss and turn because you can’t stop sweating. When the alarm finally goes off you feel exhausted and dread getting out of bed to find a pair of pants that actually fit. Can you relate? It’s not your fault. Your body is changing and there are ways to work with it, not against it.
When our hormones change, life feels unpredictable.
You may not recognize it is happening.
You might all of a sudden feel anxious, dry, heavier, moody, or exhausted.
It’s time to make food personal.
LANDIS NUTRITION AND FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE DIGS UNTIL WE GET TO THE ROOT CAUSE.
We have all probably had the same traditional medicine experience of finally getting in to see your doctor and only getting a 15-minute time slot. You may not feel heard by the physician and then you are pushed out the door with another prescription in hand and no follow-up appointment in sight. So many of us have had this experience and it is so frustrating! This is where the importance of functional medicine comes in. At Landis Nutrition and Functional Medicine in Clifton, VA, we take a holistic, personalized, patient specific approach. This means that I will take extra time really listening to your entire health history, collecting data, reviewing labs, while also looking at environmental, genetic, and lifestyle factors that could all potentially influence chronic health conditions.
Hi, I’m Lena!
I’m a functional medicine and nutrition specialist devoted to helping you find optimal health using a foods-first approach. My journey with functional medicine began the day my child was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. As a division I field hockey player, I always took an interest in the role nutrition played in athletic performance, but it wasn’t until having children that I realized just how important the foods I provided for them affected their health.
At 18 months old, my son was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease (Ocular Myasthenia Gravis), and my desire to advocate for my children’s health grew astronomically. We were only able to see his specialists a few times a year to better his care, yet I was feeding him daily. I knew the foods I fed him had the power to hurt or the power to heal. So I chose to dive headfirst into the research to better understand how food affects the body when it comes to autoimmunity and bring those foods into our home.

My Approach
When we meet, I want you to feel like you are chatting with an old friend. I work to create a warm, welcoming environment, where you can freely talk about your relationship with food, how you view your body, current complaints, unwanted symptoms, and what your ideal world would look like with regards to food.
I take an evidence-based nutrition approach. I combine successful protocols from previous clients as well as blend new research into my care plans as it becomes available. Understanding your daily habits is important to me as we create a sustainable healthy lifestyle. So I focus extensively on your health history, toxic exposure questionnaire, trauma, and medical symptom questionnaire, current medication and supplement list, along with any recent labs you have had done. Then we work together to create a step-by-step realistic, implementable road map targeting diet, movement, stress reduction, sleep, and supplement recommendations to get you feeling your absolute best!
