Habits Become Behaviors
Imagine this: You wake up in the morning, a little groggy, not totally awake and prepped for your day but the kids need breakfast, you have a 9:15 meeting, we gotta get rollin’, am I right?
You sip a cup of coffee while you make yourself into a less tired version of your 7am self, round up your water bottle, top off your tumbler with more coffee and run out the door.
“Breakfast? No time
I’ll grab a donut in the break room, Sherry always brings extra.”
More coffee. Donuts. Sarah wants to grab lunch out, Chic-fil-a sounds delish! It’s 3:30, need to grab the kids from school, large iced coffee, and we have baseball.
“Dinner? Hmm, I can snag a bag of chips on the way out the door. Kids are fed, that’s good!”
You get home at the end of your day and you are just exhausted. You snuggle, you give kisses goodnight, and you land in bed like a bag of bricks completely drained.
“Gosh! I need to buy stronger coffee.”
You wake up the next day and do it all over again, feeling drained all over again. But, why? You’ve had all the coffee, you drank your water, you got a work-out in. Why can I not keep up? The question shouldn’t be WHY but WHAT.
What are you fueling your body with? What are your symptoms stemming from? Functional medicine does just that. Getting to the ROOT cause of symptoms rather than pacifying them with pharmaceuticals or stimulants(Im looking at you energy drinkers!)
